According to a wikipedia entry on termites, termites may be able to help the US Department of Energy replace fossil fuels as energy sources because termites can be used as sources of energy. Termites can reportedly produce as much as two liters of hydrogen when they ferment at least one sheet of paper which makes them one of the Earth’s most efficient bioreactors.
