I always find it amusing that even with the advent of credit cards, many appliance centers in the country still has the “buy now pay later no credit check” schemes.
Almost two years ago, hubby and I saw this newly opened appliances store that offers a six month installment on selected appliances at 0% interest. We decided right there and then to buy a new DVD player.
Despite that the store did a sort of “credit investigation”, the purchase was still on buy now pay later no credit check because the “credit investigator” merely asked for a copy of our internet bill. No questions about our job or how much we earn each month. After six months though, we were able to pay for the DVD player in full.
Disadvantages of “buy now pay later no credit check” purchases
We were lucky to get a dvd player on installment and without credit card at 0% interest. One of the main disadvantages of buy now pay later no credit check purchases however is the interest. A laptop or a computer, for example, which normally costs 50,000 will be priced at 60 thousand when you use the buy now pay later no credit detail needed option. I have also seen repossessed items that were returned because the buyers were not able to pay for them.
