Senator Antonio Trillanes IV implied that the Makati bombing, which so far has killed 10 people and injured hundreds, was the “handiwork of the government”.

Military explosives

The police reported that the bomb used in the Makati explosion contained RDX which is a main chemical component of C4. The C4 explosives in the Philippines are only used by the military. The police report, however, is not yet conclusive that C4 explosives were really used.

To divert public attention?

In a vox populi post on On Trillanes blaming Palace for Glorietta blast, one reader commented that the bombing

“is merely a ploy to divert attention of the public masses to the ongoing bombardment of accusation/allegation etc., being thrown to the government by credible public officials, namely from the opening of the wiretapping scandal in in the Senate, ZTE-NBN Deal, and at present the on going cash-out scandal in Malacanang.”

Another says that

“Nobody stands to gain anything from the bombing except people who will benefit from diverting the public’s attention from the numerous anomalies and controversies the GMA administration is involved in”.

People also believed that the bombing is a prelude so the government can declare martial law.
