February 29, 2008 is a leap day

29 February 2008 1 views by: rhodilee No Comment

Today is February 29, 2008 and today is a leap day. February normally has only 28 days but every four years, February adds another day. According to some info I gathered online, Leap years are important because the additional calendar day every four years will keep our modern calendar in sync with the earth’s revolution around the sun.

Four years ago, in a leap day, our son Kulay was christened in Sto. Rosario Catholic Church here in Toril, Davao city. I chose a leap day for the christening date so it will be much easier for us to remember when Kulay was baptized into the catholic ceremony. Kulay was only a few months old then. He cannot talk and walk yet.  Today though, Kulay is already  a very active and babbly four years old attending a preschool here in our area. My, he even knows how to protest against some of the rules at home as early as now.

There are also people who are celebrating their birthdays today, people who only HDB celebrate their natal day every four years (as if they do not get old).

To all the people who were born on a leap day and are celebrating their once-in-four-years birthday today, here is for you:

Happy Birthday!
