Filipino Nurses Abroad have Unprofessional Work Attitude?

This is bad news about filipino nurse: There may be a slump in the need for Filipino nurses abroad not because of the nursing board exam controversy but because the latest batch of Filipino nurses abroad reportedly have undesirable work habits.

According to Henry Seno, president of the American Dream Review Institute Inc., “Filipino nurses in the United States ?do not show up for work (and) literally do not report to the hospitals, especially those with immigrant status (while) those who report act as if they are not there because they?re busy doing other things?.

Seno also said that the Filipina nurse going abroad are no longer the same quality as the nurses 10 years ago. Filipino nursing schools are also producing graduates who lack hands on experience.

This results in American clinics and hospitals to recruit more nurses from India, Korea and China than from the Philippines.

I think Filipino nurses abroad should prove that they are dependable workers and show that the characteristics of Filipino nurse are desirable. This is a challenge if Philippine nurses want to continue being referred to as good quality workers. The government should also ensure that nursing schools in the country are indeed producing quality graduates who have the skills and the heart to help patients.

Some nurses who should not really be in the nursing field also took up the course not because they love the job but because they want better salary.

I am a Filipinio by birth, flesh and blood but I am ashamed to be called a Filipino. Simply because most of the attitude of our kababayan are disgusting, pretentious and lack of conern to others at least to say most are selfish.

I tried my best to understand our culture but I cant find any better than others. Besides the new generations are getting worse and disrespectful elders. Our English skill in words and in writing is also deteriorating. I think we need more speech class before we have our diplomas so to call ourselves professionals.
