My personal blog and my first self hosted website Rhodilee.com is celebrating its second year anniversary today.
Blogging for more than two years has taught me a number of things. One, that blogging is not just about money and getting thousands of visitors. Blogging is about doing what you really like most– writing or just expressing your thoughts and sharing your life and your opinion. Blogging is also a medium through which you meet people and together you do things for a good cause.
In the span of two years since I started to write in this site, blogging in the Philippines has become a powerful medium that bloggers as a group can now suspend journalists and even threaten politicians. I realized I have to be more careful and more responsible about the things that I write about. Blogging is not just grabbing others’ attention, it is also being sensitive to the needs of others. I hope my fellow bloggers who write and blog about the death of politicians and celebrities do not just write about them for the sake of traffic and money. Writing about them without truly caring for them or giving value for what they have done make us bloggers opportunists.
In my two years of maintaining Rhodilee.com, I have had my own share of blogging mistakes and irresponsibilities but realizing the power of online alternative journalism, I gear toward growing as a more mature and more responsible blogger.
Happy TWO years Rhodilee.com!
