I exceeded my bandwidth limit– for the second time

Follow my life, subscribe to my RSS feeds. Thanks for visiting!

For the second time since I bought a hosting plan, I exceeded my bandwidth limit which means having to upgrade for the second time to a higher hosting package which is also more expensive :-( The customer service staff I have talked with yesterday encouraged me that I should actually be happy that I exceeded my bandwidth limit because it means that my website or email is busy.I should really be glad if my site traffic increases but so far, it is all the same. Rhodilee dot com visitors have not yet exceeded 400 daily this week.

Can Talk Tech

The same problem occurs with my tech blog, can talk tech. Just this morning, I received a notice that I will soon exceed my bandwidth limit and I really wonder why. Let me be honest that I really feel so disgusted with how this site performs these days. It used to receive 500 to 600 daily visitors last month but now visitors drastically went down. Worst number of visitors is 128 this week (ugh!) and I never exceeded the 400 mark but my bandwidth increased?

Theme Problem?

All photos and videos in my two sites are hosted somewhere else and given my traffic, I really do not have any idea why bandwidth usage increased drastically. I checked out what is common with the two sites and I found only one, both of them are using the same structure wordpress theme. I am still having second thoughts on changing my theme though because this is the best theme that I can use in my blogs so far.

Solution

I am cleaning up my sites today to see if this can help. I am deleting photos. I hope this will help. I also need to research, I cannot solve a problem without understanding it.

Hey, I just came across this post. I hope it’s not a theme problem. I’ve also completely revamped the backend of the theme for version 1.3. There are fewer database queries, which might help a bit.

Stop by the new site and pick up the latest version. It wouldn’t hurt to at least see if it helps a bit.

And, I don’t know what host you’re using, but I’m now trying to persuade folks to move over to Media Temple. It’s about $20/month for their Grid Service, but it makes life much, much simpler when you have a good host.

    Hi Justin,

I was not able to update this post but it appeared the problem is not related with the structure theme :-)
