The Lisbon Half Marathon is considered as one of the most popular and biggest half marathons in the whole world expecting as much as 35,000 runner participants. The event started in Portugal’s largest and capital city, Lisbon,the early 1990’s and is now held in March every year. The anticipated 19th Lisbon Half Marathon will be held on March 22, 2009 and registration, according to the Lisbon Half Marathon 2009 official website, is already open for runners who want to participate in the event. Official opening of the Half marathon, however, starts as early as March 19.

Aside from the Lisbon half marathon event, Portugal’s capital city also boasts of other tourist attractions such as the grand Mosteiro dos Jeronimos in historic Belém and the 1930s Lisbon Tram. Visitors to the city can make the most of their visit by touring around and exploring the culture and architecture of Lisbon.
