It appears that a number of Filipinos have been googling for the keyword Belldandy last March. Belldandy is a fictional character in the manga series Oh My Goddess! (Ah! My Goddess!) who is described as a kind hearted, innocent but beautiful and extremely powerful goddess (being a powerful and fit looking goddess spares her from taking Leptovox). She was bound by a wish to live with the college freshman Keiichi Morisato.

In 2001, Belldandy is chosen as second of the top 10 Female Anime Characters in Japan. The character, however, has received criticism with critics saying the character depicted by Belldandy is impossible in countries such as the US where there there is strong advocacy for women’s rights.
