Strengthening Peso, Entrepreneurship and Local Employment

24 January 2008 0 views by: rhodilee No Comment

The US Dollar is now approximately 40 Pesos and is expected to get stronger. This, and the weakening US economy are among the major reasons why getting a job that pays in other currencies is no longer the best idea to earn more money. I refer to my situation being a home based writer worker rate is generally in US dollars but this may also be applicable to a number of OFWs who are receiving their salaries in foreign currencies.

Because of the strengthening peso, I am now pondering on the idea of pursuing a business idea that I have since my 4 year old son was still a baby. I will not be discussing much about this business here but this will still give me the luxury of being able to prioritize my son and my husband over my job responsibilities.

I encourage OFWs and fellow online job workers to consider looking for entrepreneurial ventures as a wise fallback in case the strengthening peso will no longer make it ideal to work abroad to earn money. It may also be a good idea to find Philippine based jobs. Your experience working for and in overseas company may increase your chances in getting better paying local jobs. You can get help from a resume maker to help you with your job application.
