According to a wikipedia entry on termites, termites may be able to help the US Department of Energy replace fossil fuels as energy sources because termites can be used as sources of energy. Termites can reportedly produce as much as two liters of hydrogen when they ferment at least one sheet of paper which makes them one of the Earth’s most efficient bioreactors.

This may be good news because humans can finally exploit termites. These insects have been doing more harm than good particularly because it destroys homes. Termite infestation is in fact one of the reasons why we are renovating the house. Some of the woods in the house have been destroyed by these insects.  These include a door and one of our cabinets. I guess, hubby and I should be reading tips on how to avoid and get rid of termites at killthetermites.com so we will know what to do with our termite problem.
