The Gift of Giving

I was really inspired by a fellow blogger I met at the Davao mini word camp. I was reading Jireh’s blog today and I learned that she is celebrating her 25th birthday on October. What is inspiring is the fact that instead of having that endless wish list most people have on their birthdays (gadgets, books, travel, etc), Jireh is looking forward to a charity event on her birthday and instead of gifts, she is in fact asking people to give books, toys, food and clothes to the Davao Medical Center Cancer Patient Kids.

I reflected on this today and realized how selfish I have become spending on travel, food, gifts and some other things every time somebody in the family celebrates a birthday. I guess I better do what Jireh does on my birthday too.

If you want to give a gift to Jireh’s 25th birthday, visit her Caffeinated blog for more details. You will not oly be making Jireh’s day exra special, you will also cheer up the “little angels” at the Davao Medical Center.
